Welcome The Poetry Diner and thank you! It's so nice to see that you've visited! I will have lots more posts on tap soon. Just settling into the new year! Cheers!

Words can make or break your world. Love this piece.http://thepoetrydiner.blogspot.com/

Keep writing so we can keep reading.

Hey LINDA! I didn't say words were better, we need words and physical intimacy! But there are times when a touch is meaningless and used only for one's own satisfaction. Words can be used that way as well, but when they are pure and true, how amazing. I hear you though! We need both! Happy New Year!

ANDY, thanks so much! I think I will recite this in a slam soon. It does have a nice rhythm. Happy New Year dear!

Hi ANTHONY! Thanks for your comments and your visit. Happy New Year!

    Hi, Tameka! ~

God knows, I love words! But, I don't know if I agree that they're better than other forms of communication, like hugs, for example.

My ex-husband, the Darkly Gifted Songwriter, used to say, "Words are all we have." It is possibly true that's all he has, but, that's not all I have...

nice, nice... a fun read & still powerful.. a lot of meaning in these words

    Hello Tameka.
I echo everyone's sentiments & more. Great rhythm & flow. This reminds me of one of those open mic events. You're on stage wowing the crowd with your lyrics & everybody's in a frenzy because they're "feelin" it. ;-)
    Awesome!
Thanks for sharing & visiting. I appreciate the comments.

Wonderful poem. Words are as sharp as a knife or as soft as a warm bath.I love yours.

Wow, MANI that is beautiful. I love that word! I'm thrilled that you liked it so much! Yay! :-)

    Thanks JANAKI! :-)

Wise words ALPANA! So very true. Thanks so much!

Isn't that the truth PAMELA??? Thanks for your visit!

Awww, SULEKHA, that means the world to me! Thank you!

    Say it again sister CORINNE!

MELISSA, thanks for your kind words and for getting me and what I'm trying to say. That means a whole lot to me.

Hi RIMLY! I'm gonna search on your blog for your poem. I'd really like to read it. Thanks for always bringing light to my blog!

    Thanks JOHN! So true indeed!

This is very true. Words do have huge power. Great poem.

This reminds me of my poem "Words".Yes words are powerful, they can cut you deep as well as melt you to the core. But as you say it is you have the power to change them for something positive. Loved this Tameka

Oh I love this Tameka :* esp. that part on rearranging those 'same' words to help you heal.

They are powerful because words are alive :) So, I promised God to offer a blessing instead of a curse, to tell the truth despite of oppositions, to be gentler and kinder to every creature I meet. And to sing those words to make them twice as powerful :P

And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

There's so much to reflect on your post :)

Great post... Words have so much power that we forget what we say especially in anger!

Words can build or break - the choice is ours!

Tameka, Your words are magical and so true. Love the way you think and write.

Amen, sistah. Love it. Words are sooo powerful. They can contain life or death or a plethora in between! xo

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
    Very well written Tameka...

This is awesome...such a beautiful message.
